Engineering Design and Launch of Mass Production for a VR Headset
Vrgineers has developed the world’s most advanced virtual-reality headset, XTAL, which is supplied globally to leading organizations such as Škoda Auto, NASA, and BAE Systems. Our collaboration with this company has been our most significant challenge to date, pushing us to the limits of modern technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
For several years, we worked as part of the Vrgineers team, leading the engineering and production departments. This allowed us to participate in the development and manufacturing of the complete plastic assembly — a component set requiring exceptional mechanical precision, high-end design quality, user comfort, and the transition from prototypes to full-scale mass production.
The first step was the creation of a prototype of the comprehensive assembly, which included both functional components and exterior parts with visible surfaces. This was followed by several verification series in which we tested the proposed engineering solutions and focused on optimizing all components, developing assembly procedures, establishing quality-control processes, and preparing full manufacturing documentation. Thanks to this robust preparation, we successfully brought the engineered components into series production, helping the XTAL headset come to life.
The experience gained in the development and production of the headset now enables us to deliver projects for new clients. We are proud to see Vrgineers continue to grow worldwide and keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
