Protective meshes for cans – protection against insects and impurities

Project Goal

To streamline the production of the client’s product. The original process relied solely on manual jigs, resulting in a production capacity of only a few hundred units over 14 days. The goal of the collaboration with Holymer was to semi-automate the process and increase output to up to 10,000 units in 14 days.


Solution

  • Complete mechanical design using the CAD system SolidWorks

  • Development and production of two semi-automated machines:

    • A purely pneumatic machine

    • A custom machine with an Arduino microcontroller, programmed with the help of AI

  • Iterative development and prototype testing in cooperation with the client

  • Final assembly and commissioning at the client’s facility, including usage demonstration and operator training


Result

  • Increased production from hundreds to 10,000 units per 14 days

  • Semi-automation of the manufacturing process and shortened production cycle

  • Improved manufacturing efficiency and reliability without the need for a fully automated line


Project Summary

The project took approximately one year. During this period, several prototypes were developed and tested directly in the client’s production environment. Based on the feedback, we fine-tuned the equipment until reaching the final version. Due to the limited budget, we jointly opted for a semi-automated solution, which delivered a significant production boost at an acceptable cost.
